Pura Vida’s product images are excellent and attractive. They use high-quality images that highlight the uniqueness, color, and beauty of each product. They are even better when they incorporate human elements, like in the following image.

See the contrast between the model’s skin, as against the white background, and the context in which they’re worn (to the pool, at parties, during summer, etc.)—these factors contribute to the product’s appeal. 

User Experience—8/10

Anyone browsing the Pura Vida website is in for a surf ride—no pun intended. The website has an aesthetic that gives off a beachy feel. 

The website design has a clean layout and is visually stunning. The horizontal menu is easy to navigate and clearly states the different actions you can take on the website. However, the font of one of the menu items is illegible.

The homepage effectively recommends trending items, which is useful for shoppers browsing without intent. Plus, they have a chatbot at the corner of the mobile homepage offering assistance to visitors. 

While the chatbot is a great addition, it’s primarily designed to handle common user inquiries and guide them through the basic functions of the website. It’s not the most advanced chatbot because it relies on predefined responses.

It also cannot engage in more complex conversations or offer personalized recommendations, which can be useful for a store with many unique items like Pura Vida. There’s room for improvement on that end, plus you can’t find the bot on the website if you’re shopping on a computer.

Customer Service and FAQ Page—7/10

Pura Vida offers decent customer service options, including a chatbot for self-help articles and a footer with links to the FAQ page, order tracking, store locations, and other details, as shown in the image below.

As you can see, without clicking on any of the categories, you can use the search bar to find the exact FAQ you’re looking for. This also contributes to a positive user experience. 

The main drawbacks are the lack of direct contact options, like email or phone, and the absence of 24/7 customer support—a challenge that an efficient chatbot could address.

Return and Shipping Policies 9/10

The Pura Vida store has dedicated shipping and return policy pages. However, you can also learn about the specific shipping and return policy on the product page for a particular item when shopping. 

For example, under the Shipping & Returns collapsible section of the Wave Stacking Ring, the brand clearly stated that the item is a final sale, meaning they don’t allow returns or exchanges.

On the dedicated shipping policy page, the policies are straightforward. They explained everything customers need to know in a tabular form, added a few notes for context, and provided a contact email address. 

Similarly, on the returns policy page, they explained their return and exchange process concisely, using bullet points to make it easy for readers to digest. Then, they highlighted important texts so that readers don’t miss them when skimming through the page. 

This straightforward method of communicating their shipping and return policies helps customers get the information they need faster.

From the banner messages advertising free shipping and 30% off bulk orders to the glaring and colorful back-to-school promotion on the Pura Vida homepage, it’s safe to say that they truly shine in their promotions and discounts.

If you look closely at the screenshot above, you’ll find a menu item that says “Up to 60% Off.” It opens up several unique Pura Vida pieces on sale with 30–60% discounts. These discounts encourage customers to shop without feeling pressured or worried about finances.
